HTC Unveils it’s first Blockchain Phone-Behind every successful man, there is a strong woman. This is definitely true in the case of HTC (High Tech Computers)!! Her name is Cher Mi Wang and she is the daughter of one of the most extravagant individuals in Taiwan. In 1997, she entered into a venture with HT Cho and Peter Chou and that is how HTC was found. Its primary reason for existence was to introduce to the market an integrated cell phone and digital personal assistant.
Many industries in the world have started realizing the potential of Blockchain. As a result, HTC has decided to release the first blockchain empowered telephone. The company went on to reveal that there was an initial version of the phone that can only be purchased through a crypto-currency payment. Though the development is 10 years after the tech giant released its first smartphone, it is not something that can be ignored. The grand launch of this device is still being kept a secret by the company.
The company said that EXODUS 1 (the product has been named EXODUS 1), will be shipped starting December and that further developments on the phone series will continue to be done. The firm is looking for blockchain developers to contribute in this regard.
Reportedly, the phone is not available worldwide. It is solely being released to 30 countries worldwide, including the U.S., Hong Kong, Singapore, New Zealand, and the U.K.

HTC wants to release some APIs as well so that the developers can assist with digital transaction validations and help the company expand its blockchain platform.
“The goal is to start with the blockchain community and get their assistance in making our wallet and the technology even more secure, in essence testing it out and providing feedback and suggestions [and] solutions,” said one of the top executives from the firm who is responsible for building the decentralized network for the firm. He added:
“Recent figures show that there are around 35 million wallets out there at the moment. The HTC EXODUS 1 is about getting the consumer used to owning their own keys and going from there to develop the EXODUS into a device that can be for the broader market.”
The device comes with the most essential feature for someone using cryptocurrencies. As it can store a cryptocurrency key in a manner that is unrevealed to the Android system.
Not only this, but it also protects data in case there is theft of the device, in an emergency situation. It has a very unique manner of its social key recovery process. Similar to what happens in social media accounts to be recovered or secured. The user has to provide some trustworthy accounts and answers to security questions. Each of these accounts will then help to recover the lost key.
