Blockchain Center Setup In Manhattan. As per a Bloomberg report, the New York City Economic Development Corporation (NYCEDC) has announced that it is opening its Blockchain Center in Manhattan. The center is going to be part of a partnership with international trade organization. It is also going to be a part of Global Blockchain Business Council, and Future Perfect Ventures.
The 4,000-square-foot center will be located in the Flatiron District of Manhattan. Reportedly the center will be offering blockchain-oriented educational services to the general public. This includes such as programming classes and lectures for software developers.
Ana Arino, chief strategy officer at the NYCEDC, told Bloomberg in a telephonic interview, that the organization is looking at the long term advantages of blockchain technology. They want to make sure that New York is at the forefront of future development in blockchain technology. Arino stated:
“Blockchain Center Setup In Manhattan. It is a nascent technology, so there’s bound to be uncertainty around this evolution from year to year. While we don’t know what the future holds. We want to make sure we have a seat at the table shaping it.”
The city is reportedly contributing a “one-time initial investment of $100,000”. Bloomberg reports that the organization will seek to raise further funds via membership fees and through corporate partners. This includes, as per the report, include Microsoft Corp. and International Business Machines Corp.
The NYCEDC’s president and CEO first announced plans to open a blockchain-focused resource and education center in the city in May 2018. This month, a member of New York state legislature made a statement that New York is the first state in the United States of America to create a cryptocurrency task force in order to study the regulation, the potential usage and definition of digital currency.
