Cryptocurrency trading services are soon to be launched on online stock brokerage E*Trade Financial. Bitcoin and ether trading soon to be released by E*Trade.
It was revealed in a Bloomberg report in April, that E*Trade will initially add trading support for bitcoin (BTC) and ether (ETH). The publication was citing “a person familiar with the matter,” and stated that more cryptocurrencies to be added in the future.
Nathaniel Popper, a tech reporter at The New York Times, tweeted that the U.S. brokerage is also reportedly finalizing a third party to hold the cryptocurrencies.
The firm also began to trade in bitcoin futures from CME Group for customers last year. E*Trade has close to 4 million customers now. It was founded in 1982, and is Nasdaq-listed.
Bitcoin and ether trading soon to be released by E*Trade. Cryptocurrency services are increasingly being offered by traditional financial players. TD Ameritrade, another brokerage, was said to be testing bitcoin and litecoin (LTC) trading on its platform. Last year, an undisclosed sum was invested in cryptocurrency exchange ErisX by TD Ameritrade.
Cryptocurrency trading services were launched over a year ago by mobile stock trading app Robinhood. The app’s plans to launch an initial public offering (IPO) were recently announced.
