BCB, the Singapore-based technology-centric Blockchain signed a Memorandum of Association (MOA) with the government of The Philippines to create smart city projects and applications using blockchain technology. BCB Blockchain and Philippine Government Collaborate to Create Smart City Projects.
According to the announcement, the blockchain technology company, Building Cities Beyond (BCB) has pledged $300,000 under the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) to fund incubators and start-up accelerators in the Philippines.
The partnership helps local start-ups build projects and applications in ‘smart cities’ using their fund and blockchain technology protocol.
Dr. Enrico C. Paringit, Executive Director, PCIEERD – DOST said in the release:
“We hope that this partnership will ignite the next wave of applications and innovations for the development of sustainable and smart cities.”
The collaboration involves:
- joint promotional activities
- creation of professional networks
- project funding
- exposure to global markets across a wide range of industries following successful commercialization of projects
Douglas Gan, CEO of BCB Blockchain, stated:
“By providing DOST, universities and TBIs with the resources and technical knowledge that BCB Blockchain has, we expect them to deepen their competencies in the area of designing and developing applications and projects for smart cities. We will guide and provide them with access to hands-on workshops, funding, materials, events and technical support.”
BCB Blockchain has also signed agreements with several universities and start-up innovation incubators in Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao to enhance its commitment to working closely with its educational partners.
